Dalmatian hinterland is a region with turbulent past, delicious specialties, rich tradition and unique ethnographic elements, and is easily accessible from town centres on Dalmatian coast. Enjoy your time in rural households in homely atmosphere, discover Sinj and Trilj and sense the traditional spirit of the area in rural family household.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Airport Split – Šibenik
Arrival, meeting with the tour guide and drive to Šibenik, a port in the central part of the Adriatic coast in one of the most secure bays on the Adriatic. It has many valuable monuments, such as: Cathedral of St James -which is under the protection of UNESCO, fortifications… Upon arrival, guided tour of Šibenik. Afternoon free for indiviual activities and walk in the town. Accommodation and overnight.

*Optional: possible to organise lunch on the fortress St. Mihovil after the visit.
*First day programme depends of the arrival of flight.

Day 2: Šibenik – National Park Krka Waterfalls- Etnoland Dalmati – Šibenik
After breakfast, drive to the entrance of the National Park Krka Waterfalls – named after the river Krka, with 7 big waterfalls and unique flora and fauna. The most important constructions inside the park are: Franciscan church, monastery and Krka Abbey with a rich artistic collection. The visit also includes a story about mills, which can be seen inside the park and they have been used by local inhabitants. After the visit, some leisure time and continuation to rural household Etnoland Dalmati where traditional lunch will be served. Leisure time in the village which has a traditional complex of houses and workshop that were used in the past: authentic old Dalmatian house (also etno-museum), garden planted with indigenous spices and vegetables, workshop, arena – where you will have the possibility to see traditional way of life of the region… Drive back to Šibenik and overnight.

Day 3: Šibenik – Sinj
After breakfast, drive to Sinj – capital city of the region of river Cetina, located on 320 m of altitude. It is surrounded with 3 mountains: Dinara, Kamešnica and Svilaja. Famous for it’s traditional manifestation called Sinjska alka – Croatian knights game. It is held every year in the first week of August in Sinj, the anniversary of the victory over the Ottomans – 14th of August 1715. Meeting with local guide and guided visit of Sinj. Visit includes Museum of the Cetina region – a regional museum with following collections: a petrographic, an ethnographic and a cultural-historical collection, art gallery and visit of the Museum ˝Sinjske Alke˝. After sightseeing, free time in Sinj and drive to the rural household where you will try local dish called ˝arambašiči˝. Accommodation in hotel in Sinj/Trilj region, overnight.

Day 4: Sinj – Trilj- airport Split

After breakfast, drive to Trilj: a town located near the river Cetina – one of the youngest towns in Croatia, today connects small settlements. Human activity on the area of today’s Trilj is known from pre-historic period. Walk around Trilj and visit of Museum of Trilj, founded in 1996. Lunch is organised in Trilj. After lunch, visit of the mills of Grab, which were built 600 years ago for production of flour. Five mills are saved in original shape and are still in function. Located in breathtaking scenery, on the river Grab,mills will thrill you. After leisure time near the river,depending of your depature flight transfer to Split airport.

Itinerary

Day 1: Zagreb
Arrive at Zagreb airport, meeting with guide and transfer to hotel. In the afternoon, sightseeing of Zagreb – which is the largest and the capital town of Croatia. Squares, museums, churches, beautiful green park areas influenced by Austrian and Hungarian characteristics are just one small part of the overall of the town of Zagreb. Free time for individual activities. Overnight.

Day 2: Zagreb – Trakošćan – Zagreb
After breakfast, excursion to Trakošćan. Castle Trakošćan’s cultural heritage, is protected as a historical entity, which consists of the castle, the building next to the castle, park and forest park with a lake. Today the castle is one of the few facilities in Croatia with preserved its own constitution, historically closely related to the architectural framework and the life of its owners. *Optional: lunch in restaurant ˝Terasa na jezeru Martan˝ (which means ˝Terrace on the lake Martan˝) with a beautiful view and ambient. Leisure time for individual activities. Return back to Zagreb. Overnight.

Day 3: Zagreb – Repušnica – Kutina
Breakfast. Check-out and departure towards Kutina. On the way, stop in Repušnica for tasting of homemade traditional products in restaurant ˝Repušnička Klet˝. Located on the hills of Moslavina, a small family owned wooden cottage offers  a relaxing atmosphere with the most beautiful view of Lonjsko polje. Continuation to Kutina, accommodation in winery Sontacchi. Overnight.

Day 4: Kutina
After breakfast, sightseeing of Kutina where you will see interesting monuments such as Church of St. Mary of Snow, The Porches of Moslavina,the Moslavina Museum… Organised visit to Wine Court which symbolizes Kutina as the largest town of wine-growing Moslavina. Leisure time for individual activities. Return back to Winery Sontacchi for wine degustation. Overnight.

Day 5: Kutina – Zagreb airport
Breakfast. Depending of your departure flight transfer to Zagreb airport.

Day 3: Hvar Island Tour
Breakfast. This is a wonderful way to experience the beauties of Hvar with a coach and licensed professional guide. All of the towns bellow are included in the island sightseeing tour.
Stari Grad, formerly known as Pharia and Pharos, is one of the oldest settlement on the island and is in fact the city after which the island was named (Hvar being a derivative of Pharia and Pharos ).
Vrboska is known as Little Venice of Hvar island, appropriately named for the many small bridges that connect the city over its narrow, winding fjord, Vrboska is the smallest town on Hvar.
Jelsa is one of the largest towns on the island. Return to hotel and overnight.

Day 2: Split – Old town walking tour & Wine tour (whole day excursion)
After breakfast enjoy in guided tour of Split with our official tourist guide. This journey through history starts with the fact that the Roman emperor Diocletian was born in nearby important Illyrian center and the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia – Salona. He built one of today’s most preserved palaces of that time in the nearby town Split. You will explore the 1700 year old Diocletian’s palace in Split (on UNESCO’s World Heritage List), imagining how the life of Diocletian was like. After walking tour, continuation to visit 1 or 2 Local Families engaged in traditional occupations of the Dalmatian region; learning the basics of cheese, olive oil and wine production, wine tasting; spending time with hosts on their estates, milking cows, horse riding…
The most interesting wine you will get a chance to taste is Crljenak, which is related to the world famous Zinfandel. Local delicacies and fine wines will be the icing on the cake of this amazing experience. Drive back to the hotel and overnight stay in Split.

Day 3: Split – Trogir – Walking tour & Cooking class (whole day excursion) – Split
Departure to Trogir. Upon arrival in this charming town (included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List), walking tour with official guide who will take you into the past time by retelling the stories and legends of Trogir. Greek, Roman, Venetian history on a small Island connected to one, make this town one of the most interesting historic oasis on the Adriatic Sea. After the visit of the town, organised cooking class which begins with visit to the Trogir green market where cooking chef will show how to buy the best ingredients for recepies, that will be used and cooked. The lunch is served in the kitchen accompanied by chef and few local wines, some of which are the most famous in Croatia. Drive back to Split and overnight stay.

Day 4: Split – Šibenik /Skradin Wine & food (whole day excursion) – Split
Drive to Šibenik, short walking tour with the visit of St. James’s cathedral under the UNESCO protection. Continuation to NP Krka Waterfalls.  Walk  along the river lakes connected with waterfalls. Then continuation to the town of Skradin by boat through River Krka Canyon, where  bus is waiting and will take you to the Winery Bibich for a high quality wine tasting. The winery today is producing few famous sort of wines and exports almost 80% of their production to USA and Scandinavia. You will taste the Dalmatian Debit – white wine and cuvee’s of Shiraz & Merlot, accompanied with delicious Croatian style Tapas. Drive back to Split for overnight stay.
