Choosing this tour you will discover that Croatia is a country of contrasts, with beautiful nature phenomenas and towns with rich cultural history and monuments that are listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Itinerary:

Day 1:  Zagreb
Upon arrival at Zagreb airport, meeting with guide and transfer to the hotel. Depending of the arrival time of the flight, optional – sightseeing of the town of Zagreb is organised after settling in the hotel, or the next day, after breakfast. Zagreb is the capital of Croatia, a town that attracts more and more visitors due to the architecture influenced by Austrian and Hungarian characteristics, beautiful green park areas, tasty food prepared with local ingredients and rich night and cultural life.  During the walking tour,  guide will reveal you the hidden corners of the old town and interesting legends and will take you on a unique journey that will present to you intriguing events that led to transformation of the small town into a buzzling and inviting central European capital. Overnight.

Day 2: Zagreb – Plitvice Lakes National Park
Breakfast. After optional visit of Zagreb, continuation towards the central region of Croatia – region of Lika, where you will have the opportunity to visit the magnificent Plitvice Lakes National Park.* The first proclaimed National Park in Croatia and at the same time – a UNESCO site, The Lakes of Plitvice will leave you mesmerized by the game of 16 cascade lakes, dynamical waterfalls and wooden paths that take you  into a fairy scenery. *Please note that the visit to Plitvice can also be scheduled the following day – depending of the itinerary. Accommodation and overnight.

Day 3: Plitvice Lakes National Park- Sources of river Gacka – Kuterevo – Krasno
Optional visit of Plitvice Lakes National Park – depending whether the visit was organised day before. Continuation to the heart of the region of Lika – where the mills of the river Gacka have been renewed and can be visited. Gacka river is one of the purest rivers in Europe, enabling to trouts from the river Gacka, to grow faster than in other rivers. The old mills were used for the production of the flour and local women are producing traditional grappa and homemade bread that you can try. Continuation to the village of Krasno, on the slopes of the mountain of Velebit – a mountain which is completely under protection as Nature park. Krasno is approximately 800 meters above the sea level, and in the village, economy is developped: here are also Museum of forestry and two sawmills. In the village nearby – Kuterevo, a unique shelter for orphaned bear cubs is opened enabling a better understanding of this specific specie. Return to Krasno. Overnight.

Day 4: Krasno – National Park of Northern Velebit – Zadar
After breakfast, departure from Krasno to the Northern Velebit National Park – the youngest Croatian National Park, from 1999, with a surface of 109 km2. It is spreading only few kilometres of aerial line from the sea, but it has typical mountainous characteristics. In the park, there are: Velebit botanical garden, Hajdučki and Rožanski Ledges Strict Reserve, various endemic plant species…Fresh air, dramatic contrast of cliffs and lush forests are the main characteristics of this untouched natural oasis. After visit of the National Park, departure to Zadar. Upon arrival in Zadar, check in and overnight.

Day 5: Zadar – Šibenik
After breakfast, visit of  Zadar – one of the oldest towns in Croatia preserved historical remains from the ancient times: on the famous Forum Romanum, even today Roman remains can be seen and some parts were used to construct the stunning St Donat’s church. One of the master pieces of sacral stone architecture – the cathedral of St Anastasia’s – the biggest cathedral in Dalmatia is located here. The visit includes the entrance to Archaeological Museum, and to Museum of ancient glass – the greatest collection of ancient glass in this part of Europe. It’s a town with narrow streets vivacious with Mediterranean charm, local fish specialties served in small taverns and unique Sea organs – constructed to enable to sea itself to compose music. Waves are entering into pipes and are transformed into a sound. Nearby, you can also enjoy in ‘Greeting to Sun’ – an installation which is directly connected to Sea organs producing special visual effects.  Continuation to the town of Šibenik. Overnight.

Day 6: Šibenik- National Park Krka Waterfalls- Split
Visit  of Šibenik with local guide – a medieval jewel of Croatian coast… Fortresses, that once were the key strategic constructions for the defence of the town, today are venues where open air concerts and cultural manifestations take place.  One of the masters of stone carving and architecture – famous George of Dalmatia – has left a trace here, in one of the phases of the construction of the famous cathedral of St James. The construction is quite stunning as no other material was used to construct this stunning monument and the beauty of the stone can be seen on every inch of the cathedral. The beauty was also recognised by UNESCO so the cathedral is on the list of World Heritage under protection.

After the visit, you will have the opportunity to enjoy in  National Park Krka Waterfalls – the river of Krka has formed attractive waterfalls and karstic features and during the years, it was the source of life for the town of Šibenik. The mills by the river have been renewed as a souvenir of the traditional way of life and are open for visits.  Flora and fauna are abundant with endemic species and swimming is allowed near to one of the most beautiful parts of the park – famous Skradinski buk. If possible, the lunch will be organised in the vicinity of the National park, to bring back all the flavours of old times and traditional meals are served in authentic rural household with warm welcome of hosts. Departure to Split. Accommodation in the hotel and overnight.

Day 7: Split
Walking tour with local guide in the centre of the UNESCO protected old core of the town of Split. Once known as Aspalathos, the settlement eventually emerged from one of the bests preserved late ancient monument – an Emperor Palace, which is constructed for the Roman Emperor Diocletian. Many remains are visible today, mixed with architectural styles that occurred later. As people live within the palace area, and there are also other sacral and cultural monuments, bars, restaurants and shops, many refer to palace as living monument and definitely is one of the most attractive monuments to live in.  Mixture of architectural styles, medieval character of the old streets, Venetian influence, galleries, museums as well as beaches, promenade with palm trees and plenty good restaurants have resulted with the fact that Split has been proclaimed, for a few times already, a champion of Croatian tourism. After the visit, leisure time in Split. Overnight.

Day 8: Split – Hvar – Split
After breakfast, boat ride (ferry or catamaran – depending of the schedule) to the island of Hvar. The longest and the sunniest Croatian island, Hvar was listed by magazine Forbes on the list of 10 most beautiful islands in the world. The town of Hvar is one of the most popular destinations in Croatia. No wonder why: alluring architecture with strong Venetian influence, stunning cathedral of St Stephen, crystal clear sea, typical food served in plenty restaurant are just a few reasons why so many visitors are simply enchanted by the beauty of the town of Hvar. Did you know that agave fibres can be used for production of the lace? The view from the fortress Španjola gives you a complete view of the port of Hvar, with Paklinski islands located right opposite. Leisure time. Return by catamaran to Split. Overnight in Split.

Day 9: Split  airport
Breakfast. Transfer to Split airport. Return flight.

Itinerary:

Day 1:  Zadar
Arrive at Zadar airport where travel accompanist will wait for you. Drive and visit of the old town Zadar – a magnificent town with long and rich history, situated on the territory inhabited even from the period of old stone age. In the second century B.C. it was under Roman domination and it was called Colonia Julia Jader. Its old part is situated on the little peninsula and there are more than 600 cultural monuments; church of St Donat, St Anastacia’s cathedral, church and monastery of St Mary, church of St Chrysogonus… Some leisure time.
*Visit of Zadar will be organized either on the first or last day, depending on the flight schedule. Accommodation in hotel in Zadar region. Dinner and overnight.

 Day 2: Zadar – National Park Paklenica – Zadar
Breakfast and drive to Starigrad Paklenica. The entrance to the National Park Paklenica is situated app. 50 km away from Zadar. Due to its unique natural features, magnificent forests and extraordinary geomorphologic structures, the area of Velika and Mala Paklenica was proclaimed a National Park in 1949. The main reason for proclaiming this area a National Park was the protection of the largest and best preserved forest complex in the territory of Dalmatia, which was threatened by over exploitation.  After the visit and free time in the park, return to Zadar. Dinner and overnight.

 Day 3: Zadar – National Park Kornati – Zadar 
After breakfast, drive to Vodice (approximately 60 km away from Zadar). From there, you will get on the boat for a visit of the National park of Kornati. The National Park Kornati has a surface of 220 km². On that area, there is a coastline of 238 km. – 89 islands, islets and cliffs. Islands have characteristic vegetation and biodiversity is present under the sea, as well. The visit will take you around the islands so you will enjoy almost unreal scenery. Lunch will be organised in the National Park Kornati. Return to Vodice, continuation by bus to Zadar, dinner and overnight.

 Day 4: Zadar – Plitvice Lakes National Park – Zadar 
After breakfast, excursion by bus to the National park Plitvice Lakes, situated in the mountain area of Croatia. It is the oldest National Park in Croatia and unique in the world beacuse of the surreal beauty of the lakes that have turquise-blue colour and phenomenon of karst hydrography. There are 2 groups of lakes: the upper ones and lower ones. You will enjoy in waterfalls, lakes and forest. The park was inscribed on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 1979. After visit, organised lunch in the National Park. After lunch, free time to enjoy the walks in the area of park. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Zadar – National Park Krka Waterfalls – Zadar
Breakfast and drive to the National Park Krka Waterfalls which is app. 1,5 hours away from Zadar. National Park Krka Waterfalls got its’ name because of the river Krka, with 7 big waterfalls and unique flora and fauna. In the area of park, many cultural and historic remains from paleolithic period up to Middle age can be seen. Most important constructions are: Franciscan church and monastery which you will visit and Abbey Krka with rich artistic collection. After the visit, some leisure time. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Zadar airport
After breakfast , depending of your departure flight transfer to Zadar airport.
