Cultural tourism has a strong basis in this region, so you will have the opportunity to visit galleries of Croatian famous artists and see different influences in art on many monuments, squares, palaces…

Itinerary:

Day 1: Split

Arrival at Split airport in the morning. Upon arrival, meeting with the tour guide and organised transfer to the hotel in the town Split. Check – in and organised lunch in the centre of the old town. After the lunch meeting with the local guide for sightseeing of the town. Due to unique transformation, historical remains of the original construction of the palace which was built 1 700 years ago and continuous presence of life inside, UNESCO has inscribed the old core of the town of Split on the World Heritage List in 1979. resulting with the fact that Diocletian’s Palace has become a living monument. Some leisure time for individual activities. Overnight.

Day 2: Split- Trogir – Split

Visit of Emanuel Vidović Gallery  located in the old town. Emanuel Vidović is one of the most important artistic figures and his works have marked Croatian painting. Impressive and progressive artistic works, interesting character of the author and historical background will be presented to you by professional expert of the gallery. Then, organised transfer to the Meštrović Gallery located in the picturesque surroundings of Marjan hill. Ivan Meštrović is not just one of the most fruitful Croatian sculptors, but an important historical figure and a visionary. The building itself and the garden in front creates a special atmosphere with quite a sea view. Specialist for Meštrović life and work will introduce guests to an impressive biography of the artist, often referred to as ‘master’ through abundant artistic phases, all with specific characteristics created in different historical times. After the tour, free time for individual activities or lunch. In the afternoon, drive to the town Trogir; organised guided tour with local guide. Some leisure time after the walking tour. Return back to the hotel. Overnight.

Day 3: Split – Hvar

After breakfast, departure by catamaran to the island of Hvar – the longest, sunniest and one of the most interesting Croatian islands. The geographical configuration of the island varies from northern to southern side. The southern area is famous for attractive, dramatic terrace wine yards cascading almost to the sea. During the Venetian period, the town of Hvar was important port for trade and the town has developed. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel, accommodation. In the afternoon, organised sightseeing of the town of Hvar. The tour will include the introduction to geography, history and development of the island with entrances to Benedictine convent where nuns make lace from agave fibres, unique example in the world and protected by UNESCO, entrance to St. Stephen cathedral on the biggest square in Dalmatia, visit to Franciscan monastery with Greek, Roman, Venetian collection, amphora… After the visit, some leisure time and in the evening a traditional dinner is organised in the old town with dishes prepared according to recipes that were transferred from generation to generation. Overnight in hotel.

Day 4: Hvar – Dubrovnik

In the morning, departure from Hvar to Dubrovnik by catamaran. Upon arrival , transfer to the old town where you will have lunch. After the lunch, walking tour with local guide will reveal many hidden secrets of this proud town, a town where freedom was main moto of the city politics, where culture, artistic and architectural forms have reached the highest level – embraced with double system of fortification walls. Fortification towers, picturesque narrow streets, sacral monuments, palaces and specific geographical position have resulted with famous nickname for this town – often called ‘The Pearl of Adriatic’. The tour includes Dominican monastery and Franciscan monastery. In the Dominican monastery, valuable paintings of Dubrovnik painting school from 15. and 16. century are preserved as well as works of Paolo Veneziano and Titian and important historical documents. In Franciscan monastery, rich library, collection of paintings and the third oldest European pharmacy will be presented to guests. Leisure time, accommodation in the hotel, overnight.

Day 5: Dubrovnik

Breakfast. Leisure day in the town of Dubrovnik – you have  few possibilities – exploration of the old town of Dubrovnik, cable car drive – with a view of the entire town from the upper station or a visit to the region of Konavle can be organised – close to the town of Dubrovnik – with degustation of traditional dishes and wine, and introduction to ethnographic elements of folk costumes, embroidery, and traditional wine sort – White Malvasia of Dubrovnik. Overnight.

Day 6: Departure from Dubrovnik

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport. Flight back home.

Split-NP Krka-Šibenik-Korčula-Dubrovnik

Itinerary:

Day 1:  Split

Arrive at Split airport and meeting with tour guide. Transfer from the airport to the town of Split – to the hotel. Some leisure time. Lunch is organised in the restaurant in the old town. After the lunch,  walking tour. You will have the opportunity to learn about historical events, different cultural influences and the way of life of locals. Split is famous for its Diocletian Palace that is under the protection of UNESCO – inscribed on World Heritage List since 1979. Special accent during the tour will be given to rich cultural background and the tour includes entrance to Emanuel Vidović Gallery and presentation by the professional expert of the Gallery who will present impressive and progressive artistic works, interesting character of the author and historical background. After the walking tour, departure by bus to Meštrović Gallery which is located in the picturesque surroundings of Marjan hill. Meštrović life and work will be introduced by professional informator of the Gallery. Departure from Meštrović Gallery to the hotel. Some leisure time for individual activities. Overnight.

Day 2: Split –National Park Krka Waterfalls–rural household Kalpić – Šibenik – Split

After breakfast, departure towards National Park Krka Waterfalls (approximately 1,5 hours of drive from Split). The tour will start from the picturesque small town of Skradin where you will take a boat to the stunning waterfall – Skradinski buk. Then, a walk in the park where you will have possibility to see the remains of one of the oldest European hydroelectric plant – Jaruge, from 1895. A special reminder of the traditional way of life are mills demonstrating how the source of water was used for everyday tasks. After the visit, departure and drive to rural household Kalpić which is located in the vicinity of the National Park. Traditional meal is organised with presentation of the ethnographic elements of traditional rural household. Departure from the rural household to the nearby town of Šibenik – a medieval pearl, with panoramic drive above the town and visit of St. Michael´s fortification. Walking tour in this magical town, founded in 1066. where you will see the Cathedral of St. James from the 15th century (inscribed on the UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites List), a masterpiece of the Gothic-Renaissance Art. Some leisure time after the visit and departure from Šibenik. Return to Split. Overnight.

Day 3: Split – Korčula 

Early breakfast  and departure by catamaran to the island of Korčula (app. 2:30 hours of boat ride).  Upon arrival, meeting with local guide and walking tour which includes entrances to: Cathedral of St. Marc, Abbey Treasury and Family house of Marco Polo.
Optional: we recommend to visit the pastry shop ˝Cukarin˝ where you can see traditional preparation of sweets from the ingredients from the island. Transfer  by boat to the hotel. Arrival to the hotel and check in. *Possible to organise lunch in the town Korčula or in the hotel. Some leisure time for relaxation and for accommodation in rooms. In the afternoon pick up in front of the hotel and drive to the small settlement of Lumbarda – through vineyards to a rural household (Agroturizam Bire) where you will hear the story of famous Grk wine and try this specific sort served with traditional snack. After the lovely afternoon return transfer  to the hotel. Overnight in Korčula.

Day 4: Korčula – Dubrovnik
After breakfast, pick up and departure by catamaran from  Korčula to Dubrovnik. After app. 2 hours, arrival to  Gruž port and transfer  to the centre of Dubrovnik, to Pile Gate. Organised lunch in restaurant on a magnificent covered terrace from which you will have a stunning view of the old town, city walls and fortresses. After lunch, visit of the old town – walking tour with local guide which includes entrances to Dominican monastery and Franciscan monastery, rich library, collection of paintings and the third oldest European pharmacy. After the tour, some leisure time. Pick up at Pile Gate and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation and overnight in Dubrovnik.

Day 5: Dubrovnik
Day  for individual activities on your own.

Also, in the afternoon we would recommend a boat ride to the island of Lokrum – just across the old town of Dubrovnik – guests would have possibility to see the old town of Dubrovnik from maritime position, and on the island – the scenery is beautiful with lush Mediterranean vegetation, remains of Benedictine monastery and Fort Royal –constructed in Napoleon’s period. We recommend to take city boats: ‘Skala’ and ‘Zrinski’ – with often departures from the port of the old town of Dubrovnik. In the afternoon/evening – definitely to take a cable car ride to the mountain of Srđ and to visit the Museum of Homeland War located on the upper station of cable car.

Day 6: Departure from Dubrovnik

Breakfast. Depending of your departure flight transfer to Dubrovnik airport.
